Hongmei Villa No. 16

People are full of achievements, but poetically, inhabit this land

(German) Holderlin "Man, Poetic Dwelling"

To the warm times when we will eventually grow old – The art of new natural style is suitable for the elderly

Home is a container that carries time and beauty. This sentence is the most appropriate to describe the old villa Li Zhai located in Shanghai.

The owner was born in Hong Kong since he was a child and has a strong memory of his hometown. The Hong Kong-style carved screen has become the architectural impression left in the owner’s heart. Designer Lai Jianan extracted this memory anchor and applied it to the exterior of the building. The first block constitutes the doors and windows of the building, and the large area of off-white frosted white walls is more elegant in its elegance.

From the exterior of the building to the interior decoration, the designer Lai Jianan designed the design around the proposition of “adaptive care for the elderly”. The exterior and interior are combined with strong design and construction techniques. Insulation spraying; beauty and function are combined into one; the moving lines of various indoor functional areas and the scale ratio of furniture and soft furnishings have been carefully planned, only to provide a safe and comfortable living space for the elderly owners.

The interior area continues the consistent design proposition of designer Lai Jianan – the standard configuration of a luxury house is “sunshine, air, life, and art”, rather than a ferocious stack of luxury.

After entering the door, the green plants on the porch are soothing; the designer behind the porch cleverly connects a solid wood dining table, and the open kitchen is simple and convenient.

The two floors are empty, combined with a large area of floor-to-ceiling glass, to ensure sufficient sunlight throughout the year, and also to enlarge the space scale of the living room on the first floor, bright, open, and quiet; sitting in it, you can feel a little inside The solemnity of an old hall.

The butterfly gray marble on the first floor of the whole house is matched with a beige leather sofa, a dark coffee color B&B single chair, and an inky gray water ripple carpet. The color is consistent, peaceful and warm.

A pair of well-known painter Zeng Fanzhi’s painting “Mask” echoes the surrealist painter Dali’s “flower women”, which elevates the daily residence into an art living room.

On the first floor, in the side hall of the stair study room, the art furniture collected by the owner and designer Lai Jian’an Ball is placed – the pelican chair and circle chair of the Nordic national treasure furniture master Finn Juhl; and the paper print by the modern art master Picasso , a few green plants at random to decorate it, once again responding to the design theme of “the art of new natural style is suitable for the elderly”.

The artistically splashed spiral staircase that does not stick to the wall is a perfect combination of art and technology. The irregular vertical-grained marble wall on the water-washed surface is exquisite and unique.

Due to the simple family structure, two bedroom suites are designed on the east and west sides of the second floor, both with cloakroom and bathroom.

The master bedroom on the west side is the parents’ room, with log collaged wooden floors, and a palace silk embroidery wall on the warm white bed. Living in a jungle of flowers and birds is a comfortable place to live.

The floors, walls, and counters of the bathroom are all treated with anti-skid and rounded corners. Intimate details and caring infiltrate everyday life.

The second bedroom in the east is dominated by dark brown and dark gray, with orange embellishments, and the contrast between cold and warm colors is more calm and atmospheric.
